Epiphany Twenty Fifteen

Sunday, January 11 from 6-9pm

Ah, the beauty of sugary Epiphanies past! Join Faye, Jewel, Sam & Jess for a dinner party in honor of a new year, friendship, family, adventure and all the surprises of life in between. In the spirit of always trying something new, this year’s Epiphany dinner will be a tasty twist on healthy food in the spirit of Mardi Gras. (The Epiphany kicks off Mardi Gras season after all.) We’re planning on something akin to a crawfish feed and rest assured we’ll conjure up something amazing. (Did I mention that Sam’s cooked for the NomNomPaleo brunch & dinners at Departure?) Don’t worry, we’ll still have a colorful king cake, even if it won’t have sugar.

We’ll start with music, appetizers, cocktails & conversation** at 6 followed by a feast at 7 and dessert by 8:30. We’ll have some instruments out, but feel free to bring your own. (Colleen, I’m looking at you and your ukelele.)

RSVP by January 10th by leaving a comment below. We’ll be catching the crawdads on Saturday, so make sure you RSVP if you plan on coming!

What to bring: wine, beer, ginger beer, kombucha or other refreshment –and– a white elephant gift! One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Whatever you do, do NOT buy anything. This is your opportunity to regift and declutter.

* Kids and babies are welcome. We have 2 spare rooms which can easily be used for feeding if you want to join us and would rather not leave your little one(s) behind.

** Faye and I return from Costa Rica late on the 8th, so we may even have some photos of baby sloths and other animals to share.

What some folks put in the cake—and what they signify:

  • Dime: Wealth
  • Ring: Church’s blessings
  • Thimble: Increased industry
  • Button: Increased spiritual knowledge
  • Baby: Will know Jesus better
  • Shoe: Will walk in the ways of the Lord
  • Bean: King of Epiphany! (And the baker of next year’s cake! Ha.)
