I like movements because they imply change. I'm not sure if there is a "WIT" movement exactly but it is a conversation (I like those too). Sometimes when change happens quickly (bathroom lines for ex.) people begin to call it a movement. My last teacher told me that I'd have an easier time getting a job in tech because I was a woman during this "WIT" movement. I wanted to pop him one. In general I think it's a good reminder for all people that if a certain demographic is not being represented we owe it to all of us to figure out why and/or possibly change that. Just because one woman or a thousand is finding success in tech does not negate the hundreds that struggle due to the standards/culture that is currently the norm. PS Thanks for your perspective and being a role model.

Thanks, Beth. That's an excellent focus and while it sounds so simple, is just what I need.

This is why I focus on dismantling sexism and patriarchy and discrimination in tech spaces instead. "Woman" is a huge category, and what invites some may alienate others. On the other hand, I want it to be much easier for the girls coming up after me. I want them to be free to stay happy and enthused and not burn out and become dower and need to be wary of the world.
